Pre-Holiday Party November 18th

It's a Raspberry ChristmasIt's almost that time of year again! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 18 from 4-7pm for our Pre-Holiday Open House!

Great Specials, Fabulous Door Prizes, Make-up Tips and Yummy Treats for all who attend. More info to come in the November newsletter.

We will also be collecting can goods for our Thanksgiving Boxes for needy families. This will be done through Greenville Interfaith Ministries, same as last year.

Belly Dancing Performance and Arab Dinner

Belly Dance PerformanceWednesday, August 26th - come out and experience a little Arab hospitality at Acropolis on Pelham Rd, near Earthfare. Belly Dancing with Me (Noura) and local performers – Brandy with BellyMuse, Ra’eesah Ra'naa, and Shirabella.

Hopefully we'll have a sampler platter to try some new food - still trying to convince Rihad (owner of Acropolis) that Americans do want to try traditional food. If you are interested in a special dinner let me know – it will be easier to convince him!

Just an FYI - Throughout the Arab region the cuisine can vary, for instance in Palestine falafel can be made differently from one town to the next and they can be only miles apart! You can tell where someone is from just how they make their falafel! And believe me how you make the "correct/best" falafel can be a big debate!

Celebrate Colombian Independence Day!

July 20th is Colombian Independence Day, so I thought it might be fun to meet on Thursday, July 23rd for a Post Colombian FlagColumbian Independence Day party. We will be meeting at Sacha's on E. North St. (near the old Fresh Market) for dinner at 6:30 and then off to Bongos for a Salsa Lesson with Susan from www.salsaGreenvilleSC.com at 8:30 (cost is $5).

Don't worry, I won't make you stay out until 2 am. (Maybe only until 1 - just kidding!) You can come for dinner or dancing or both. Please let me know about dinner as it is a smaller place and I want to be sure we have enough room.

Tequila tasting at Rosalinda's Monday, May 18th

Taste some tequila on May 18thEver wonder about Tequila - not sure what to buy? Well, let the experts tell you. This Tequila tasting includes six Tequilas and one Margarita (These are tastings, not full size shots - we would need a limo service for sure then!).

We will have a buffet style dinner - 1 beef dish, Pollo (chicken) Fundido, a vegetarian dish, arroz (rice), frijoles (beans), soup of the day, chips, guacamole & homemade salsa. Water, tea or soda is included.

The cost per person is $45 (includes dinner, tasting, tax & gratuity). This event is on Monday, May 18th at 6:30 pm. The restaurant is opening just for us - there is a maximum of 36 guests - so don't hesitate to sign up today. Rosalinda's is located at 1124 North Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29615. Read more about them on their website.

Due to the nature of this event, we ask that you prepay to Raspberry Moon the $45 per person. Cash or check only please.

Tequila is made from the Agave cactusThis is going to be so much fun! I had stopped drinking Tequila years ago but the last year I have started drinking it more. Maybe because I stopped drinking the rot gut kind and have tried the real stuff!

Also, please be advised this is to be a fun event but please be responsible! Raspberry Moon and Rosalinda's are not liable for your actions, so be careful on the roads. We are simply providing you with an evening of entertainment.

Note: Raspberry Moon raised over $150 in 2009 for HOG Day. The funds went to beautifying the landscaping for United Ministries' Administration Building and Learning Center. The goal was to add an abundance of bright and cheerful plantings to lift the spirits of volunteers, staff, participants, donors and students who come to the center every day. More information at the United Ministries website.

Thank You Note From United Ministries
